My name is Douglas Deutsch. My last name means German in German, but that side of the family actually has Hungarian roots. I am from Norfolk, Virginia. I have two dogs: Rooney and Finn, and one older sister. I have played soccer for all of my life, and club here at Davidson. During sophomore year of high school I started playing piano, and I am continuing taking lessons. Some of my other passions include surfing and photography. I recently had the chance to combine these two passions when my sister, my dad and I found a surf break on our recent trip to Ireland. At Davidson I am very interested in Neuroscience and the intersection between Neuroscience and Behavioral Economics. I am also in the Neuroscience club. I definitely want to be involved in Neuroscience research here at Davidson, and possibly after Davidson too. During the summers I plan on saving up and getting a private pilot’s license because I have always wanted to fly. I plan to get involved helping around the community as well.
