I will write my essay on how the bail system needlessly imprisons poor people, and creates further disparity in the sentencing of rich and poor people. Many people are locked up on bail for minor crimes. Some have not yet even been convicted, merely accused. This completely flips the notion of innocent until proven guilty on it’s head.
I like the focus on bail, but laws differ by state and the topic is still HUGE. Please narrow your focus. Your topic proposal (250 words max.) should answer the following questions:
What do you want to know about an issue that you don’t fully understand?
What specific question or problem do you want to address?
What methodology will you use to address it? (e.g. rhetorical analysis, quantitative research, qualitative case study, historical inquiry, etc…)
What experts, texts, or resources will you rely on to help you answer your question?
